Tuesday, October 3, 2017
7 p.m.

Steve Hager, professor of biology at Augustana College in Rock Island has been involved with the 395 acres currently known as the Gremel Wildlife Sanctuary and formerly known as the Green Wing Environmental Laboratory for many years.  In December of 2016 the property, located just 2 miles from the Amboy Marsh Nature Preserve, was sold to the Illinois Audubon Society and Steve continues to spend time at the property to learn about the birds in this area and add to his photograph collection.  Join us to learn more about the birds nesting at the Sanctuary, changes in the species noted, and see stunning photographs of the bird species found in this Sanctuary.

Our meetings are free and open to the public!

Please bring water and appropriate walking attire. Bug spray, if skeeters are still hanging around would also be advisable. We’ll plan to stop in Monroe for lunch at a restaurant (Baumgartner's or similar) on the way home. The return time should be early to mid-afternoon.
