Elkhorn Creek Biodiversity Preserve Geological Field Trip
Anyone who has been to the Elkhorn creek preserve can’t help but be impressed by the biodiversity of the site. However, you might be surprised to learn that the same location supported an entirely different, but equally impressive ecosystem 450 million years ago, when a shallow sea covered the entire Midwest. Join retired HCC Geology Instructor Steve Simpson as we explore the preserve and the fossil rich quarry just across the road.
Carpool from the Harbor Freight parking lot in Freeport at 12:40 p.m. or meet us at the preserve at 1:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
Confirm your attendance with Chris Kruger at 815-238-9259.
